When the temperature drops - Really drops, not all ice melters are effective.  That is where Blaze® comes in.  Blaze® is very similar to our Triple Melt® product but contains even more calcium chloride for sub-zero melting action.  Now with the added accelerator Activar®, you not only have a product that melts in low temperatures, it melts faster.  So when you think of Blaze® think of it as high octane Triple Melt®.  It really works.

Product Information

Independent laboratory testing shows the components of Blaze® do not chemically attack good quality concrete that has been designed for exposure to winter weather and ice melter usage. However, the natural cycle of freezing and thawing of concrete by winter conditions can cause scaling damage to concrete. The use of any ice melting agent can increase these natural freeze/thaw cycles.

Particularly vulnerable are those concrete surfaces in which sub-standard practices were used in the formulation, pouring, finishing and/or curing stages of construction. Also vulnerable are all concretes that are less than one year old, precast steps, masonry (stone or brick), existing concrete that has exposed aggregate, is precast, prestressed, chipped, cracked, spalled, or weathered. The use of any ice melter on these types of surfaces is not recommended, and therefore can only be done at the user's own risk.

The cycle of refreezing and thawing by natural elements can cause damage to concrete.  The use of an ice melting agent increases these cycles and are factors over which we have no control.  New and/or poor quality and non-air entrained concrete is more susceptible to such damage.  As with all deicers, use only on properly placed and cured concrete.  When using any deicer, good housekeeping practices and use of outside mats and inside "walk-off" mats are encouraged for optimum safety and minimal  impact on floor coverings.  Ice melting agents applied at much greater rates than recommended may interfere with traction or footing.  When grass and shrubbery are adjacent to icy surfaces, particular care should be used to avoid excessive application, as it could cause damage.  The use of this ice melting compound must be at the consumer's risk.
